When you start your trip somewhere as beautiful as Queenstown, you know you’re in for something special. I mean, they named it Queen’s town for a reason, right? Anyway, feeling like royalty in our latest model Avis car, we set our sights on Mackenzie country. The only problem was, we had to pull over every 500 metres to take it all in.
Lake Pukaki was incredible, as were the Lake Tekapo hot springs and Mount Cook National Park. On our way to the Stargazers retreat in Lake Tekapo, we stopped in at Kohan Restaurant for dinner. The sushi was delicious. That night we settled in at our cozy accomodation as the weather closed in around us, enjoying a relaxing night in front of the fire.
The next morning we woke up early and grabbed some breakfast at The Greedy Cow, before heading back to Queenstown via the scenic route – which doesn’t really make sense in the South Island of New Zealand, because every route is scenic. But look, don’t take my word for all of this, go and see it for yourself. Because words really don’t do this place justice.
